About me

Daily dishes should be practical (food safe, dishwasher safe), but they should also be pretty and make your fingers happy.  My  smooth glazes will not make a scratchy sound, and the bowl and plate sizes are just right for your evening ice cream, your morning yogurt and granola, or your lunch grilled cheese sandwich.

I specialize in bowls that are functional and light, graceful and very usable.

Daily Dishes can be found most Saturdays at the Ames Downtown Farmer's Market, at art fairs, or by contacting me at

I specialize in bowls that are functional and light, graceful and very usable.  I never liked stoneware - too heavy, and I didn't like the scratchy feeling of my fork on the matte glazes.  So when I started throwing clay, I knew I wanted thin walls on my pots and a very smooth glaze.  But I found an affinity for stoneware.  I love the malleability of the clay and the communication I feel with the material when I'm throwing.  My dishes are practical, because they are made the way I use them.  My glazes are smooth to the touch, and the bowl, mug, and plate sizes are just right for serving, and for your snacks and meals.  And they are pretty, because your eyes should be just as pleased as your fingers.
